Those in need of support deserve to make the most out of the summer months ahead by going on trips with family and friends. However, there are some challenges that arise with traveling that may make you feel less confident or eager to travel.

To help you plan a fun trip this summer, we’ve created a list of exciting destinations that make traveling easier for seniors or individuals living with a disability.

  • Freedom Shores in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico: This hotel and resort includes furnished rooms with ocean and garden views, as well as tropical beaches, restaurants venues, and bars. The resort was designed to be completely accessible for individuals living with a disability. With roll-in showers, beach wheelchairs, and portable ceiling lifts, everyone is able to enjoy this beautiful location!
  • Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort in Zion National Park in Utah: This resort offers stunning views of canyons and wildlife, as well as plenty of activities that can be adapted for individuals living with a disability or with limited mobility, including jeep tours and horseback riding.
  • Royal Caribbean Cruises: These cruises offer equipment and services for guests living with various disabilities and medical conditions. They also offer wheelchair accessible excursions on the shore, as well as accessible rooms, rentable equipment, and even services dogs!
  • Washington D.C.: While it isn’t a resort, D.C. is extremely accessible for individuals who use a wheelchair for mobility. The national mall has many famous museums and monuments, all within a short distance from each other. There are also buses that travel to and from various locations, including Arlington Cemetery and the White House, which are also wheelchair accessible.
