• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be employed by a PCA agency
• Pass a background check

• You cannot receive PCA services yourself
• You must be able to effectively communicate with both your clients and their agencies
• You must be able to perform the covered services, according to your client's PCA assessment plan. This means your disability cannot prevent you from performing daily tasks that will help support your clients and allow them to enjoy more independence.

In terms of home caregiving, there are other essential factors to consider, as well. If you have a disability and would like to work as a PCA, you also want to make sure you have available transportation to drive to your clients’ homes. And if you’re unable to drive, make sure you have a way of getting safety to their residences to perform your daily homecare services.
